Foreigner Arrested Smuggling Drugs into Quarantine Hotel

PHNOM PENH: A Malaysian national who was in quarantine ended himself locked in jail. He was arrested after being caught trying to sneak drugs into his quarantine hotel in Phnom Penh. The hotel staff noticed something unusual to a package for delivery into his room. But to their surprise, they saw two sachets of white substance believed to be drugs.

Wong Chung Yee, a 21-year-old Malaysian ended his supposed seven days quarantine earlier than he expected. But it didn’t end nicely as he is now locked in the capital’s jail. He arrived Cambodia last week and was doing quarantine at the Sensory Park Urban Hotel, located in Boueng Keng Kang 1, Phnom Penh. On the second of November, he tried to smuggle narcotics on a delivery package consisting of two packets of Mevius cigarrets and a bottle of drink.

The Hotel staff check the packet of cigarette that was slightly opened, with two packets of a white powder inside. They immediately called the district police for examination. It was found out that the white powder is an illegal substance well known as “Ketamine”. It is also known as Class A drugs. That has led to his arrest for drug possession. District police chief, Colonel Sim Piseth has told EAC News that Wong Chung Yee has already been sent to Phnom Penh Municipal Court on Sunday.
